It looks like this could happen before Tuesday's 4 PM trade deadline. It would basically look like this: Salty, Elvis, Andrus, a pitching prospect, for Teixeira (pronounced Tah-share-uh), and one of their relief pitchers not named Gagne.
I say pull the trigger yesterday. Not only does this solidify first base with a gold glove winner and former GA Tech standout, but it would give us possibly the most scary 2-7 in baseball. Renteria-Chipper-Teixeira-Andruw-McCann-Frenchy. A guy that has finished the last few seasons with over 35 homers every year just might be what we need to push us over the edge and end this slump.
Still don't know if we can catch the Mets, but the wildcard is right in sight. Oh yeah, adding a lefty in the overworked bullpen couldn't hurt.
Word on the street is that we are looking to add another starter like Dotel or Garland too.
